The SKF Racing team race for the Chase!

31 carJeff Burton and the No. 31 team started the month of August headed toward a top-five finish at Pocono Raceway, but a tire violation left Burton in the 21st position. At Watkins Glen, Burton finished in the 17th position, and Burton secured an 11th-place finish in Michigan. Unfortunately, an on-track incident at Bristol Motor Speedway left Burton with a 42nd place finish. But after a sixth place finish in Richmond during the first weekend in September, Burton secured a position in the 2008 Chase for the Sprint Cup.

“Although we had a lot of obstacles thrown our way over the past five weeks, we learned a lot from these races,” said Burton. “The No. 31 team is ready for the final 10 races of the season and will look to compete for the Sprint Cup Championship.”

29 carKevin Harvick and the No. 29 team started the month of August in Pennsylvania with a fourth-place finish at Pocono Raceway. At Watkins Glen, Harvick captured a sixth-place finish and followed-up the next weekend with an eighth-place finish in Michigan. During the final week of August, Harvick returned to his home state of California and scored a fourth-place finish at the Auto Club Speedway. A seventh-place finish in Richmond helped Harvick secure his third consecutive position in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

“The No. 29 machine ran exceptionally well over the past month,” said Harvick. “The No. 29 team executed a strong pit strategy that helped us advance in the point standings. Ultimately, our strong run over the past few races has given us a lot of momentum headed into the Chase for the Sprint Cup.”

07 carClint Bowyer and the No. 07 team started the month of August with a sixth-place finish at Pocono Raceway. Unfortunately, Bowyer faced some minor setbacks in the next few races finishing in the 23rd position at Watkins Glen International, and 20th at Michigan International Speedway. But in Bristol, Bowyer rebounded with a sixth-place finish. And then two weeks later, Bowyer recorded a solid run in Richmond to secure a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup for the second consecutive year.

“We definitely improved our pit strategy this month, even though we faced a few minor setbacks on the track,” said Bowyer. “We’re excited to be in our second chase and we’ll look to get a good start in New Hampshire where we won last season.”
