The SKF Racing Team finishes the 2008 season!

31 carJeff Burton and the No. 31 team started the second half of the Chase at Martinsville Speedway, after winning big at Lowes Motor Speedway the weekend prior. Unfortunately, a late-race penalty caused Burton to finish in the 17th position, and a late-race incident left Burton with an 18th-place finish in Atlanta. Burton finished in the 13th position in Texas and the ninth position in Phoenix. Then, in the last race of the Chase, Burton was involved in another late-race incident. He was credited with a 40th place finish.

Jeff Burton and the No. 31 team finished the 2008 season sixth with 6335 points in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship point standings, recording two wins, seven top-five finishes and 18 top-10 finishes.

“After winning in Charlotte at Lowes Motor Speedway, we faced a number of issues in the last five races that prevented us from advancing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Point Standings,” said Burton. “Despite the minor setbacks, we’re proud to finish the season among the Chase competitors, and look forward to another successful season next year.”

29 carKevin Harvick and the No. 29 team started the second half of the Chase with a seventh-place finish at Martinsville Speedway. In Atlanta, Harvick battled an ill-handling racecar and a late-race penalty to finish in the 13th position. Harvick finished in the seventh position at Texas Motor Speedway and in Phoenix. Finally in the last race of the Chase, Harvick fought to advance in the point standings with a second-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway

Kevin Harvick and the No. 29 team finished the 2008 season fourth with 6408 points in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship point standings, recording six top-five finishes and 18 top-10 finishes.

“I’m very pleased with our overall performance throughout the Chase,” said Harvick. “We had our ups and downs with handling issues, but we capitalized on our opportunities to advance in the point standings and finish the season in the fourth position.”

07 carClint Bowyer and the No. 07 team started the second half of the Chase with a ninth-place finish at Martinsville. In Atlanta, Bowyer finished in the 20th position, and then took a fourth-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway the following weekend. When in Phoenix, Bowyer came from behind to finish in the 12th position. And in the last race of the Chase, Bowyer finished in the fifth position when the checkered flag flew.

Clint Bowyer and the No. 07 team finished the 2008 season fifth with 6381 points in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship point standings, recording one win, six top-five finishes and 17 top-10 finishes.

“I’m very proud to have finished the last race of the season in the top-five,” said Bowyer. “We’ll look to continue this momentum next season as we race for anther shot at the Sprint Cup Championship.”

The SKF Racing Team of Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer will return to the track for the first points-race of the 2009 season on February 15, 2009 – the Daytona 500.
